Health Tips For Staying True to New Year Resolutions
The best way to get healthy or stay healthy is to have good nutrition, exercise regularly and quit smoking if you do. Below, we have a description of each on the proper ways to maintain these goals.
The goal is to consume foods high in protein, good healthy carbs and good healthy fats. Anything processed or manufactured in a package or box should be avoided. Foods like cereal, breakfast bars, packaged lunch meat, candy, chocolate, ice cream, potato chips or any snack foods should be avoided.
Rather, you should consume a variety of fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, grains, some dairy products and oils to assure proper nutrients for the body. Make sure to eat three square meals a day and do not continue to eat if you feel full. Also remember to drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day to keep the body hydrated and cleansed!
When people want to lose weight, all they try to do is run on a treadmill, elliptical, stair stepper, etc., but you should be doing more than just cardio. You are burning just as many if not more calories when working on all muscle groups. Working out 3-5 days a week for 1 hour at a moderate intensity can help reduce body fat as well as enhance the nervous system eliminating other symptoms in different body systems.
If you work out regularly in addition to proper nutrition, you will notice not only your losing the weight that you wanted, but you will also notice that you feel healthier overall. Working out regularly and eating right reduces inflammation, therefore, reducing systemic pain throughout your body.
Quit smoking is another huge resolution that people have every year, but how do you do it? Some people use products such as nicotine gum or the nicotine patch, where others quit cold turkey. Which is the best way? It is statically proven that quitting cold turkey is the best route to take. Even though the nicotine products have a limited dosage of nicotine inside, the point is you are still getting the nicotine inside your system. Quitting cold turkey makes you quit for good. You must commit to your desires! Remember, smoking increases your chances of heart disease, cancer, stroke and even death.
One thing you must keep in mind is to find something to keep your mind off smoking. People tend to eat to prevent going back to smoking. WARNING! DON’T FALL INTO THIS TRAP! Now that you reduced your chances of your heart stopping from smoking, don’t let your heart stop from eating too much. Find a hobby, workout, get out and do something that will clear your mind of everything!
The point is, live life to see another day. Live to see your friends, family, grandchildren, etc. Nothing is greater than your loved ones, so stay health so that you can be with them for a long time!
